Jean Mallard was born in Paris in 1997. He studied at the Parisian School of Decorative Arts and attended the Ars in Fabula Master in 2019, after winning the Grant Award assigned by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. The Animal Race is his first published book and the illustrations have already been selected for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition. The fair also chose him to create the Visual Identity for the 2021 edition of the BCBF, in collaboration with Chialab Design.
