Bimba Landmann, author and illustrator featured in the Just Right catalogue, has been nominated for the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, one of the most prestigious honours in children’s literature.
This nomination was submitted by the Italian Libraries Association through its National Commission for Libraries and Services for Children and Young Adults, recognising Bimba’s impressive career dedicated to literature for young people.
Bimba is among 263 candidates from 74 countries and regions nominated for the award, which acknowledges authors, illustrators, storytellers, and advocates for reading. The winner of the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award will be announced on April 14, 2026.
Established by the Swedish government in 2002 to honour the iconic Astrid Lindgren, the award aims to promote every child’s right to access exceptional stories. This global prize is, in fact, presented annually to an individual or organisation for their significant contributions to children’s and young adult literature. Laureates are chosen for maintaining the highest standards of artistic excellence, as well as for embodying the deeply humanistic spirit associated with Astrid Lindgren, embracing values of imagination, bravery, respect, and empathy.
Bimba Landmann is notable as an author and illustrator of over 40 books, which have been translated into more than 20 languages. Her artistic approach is characterised by an original poetic perspective and a deep exploration of the imaginary and narrative worlds of childhood. Through her unique graphic style, she offers young readers emotional journeys into fantastical realms.
