A poetic and adventurous picture book about losing — and rediscovering — the sense of wonder that makes the world come alive.
Every year, when the Arctic tern returns from her long migration, she enchants everyone with tales of her adventures. But this time she is silent: she has lost her sense of wonder along the way. Determined to find it, she retraces her route south, joined by Bear, Lion and Elephant. Together they cross mountains, savannas and swamps, facing storms and fatigue — yet nothing seems to restore her joy. Only at the journey’s end, at dawn by the sea, does the tern finally understand: wonder was never lost. It lives in the eyes of those who still know how to marvel — and in the beauty we learn to see together.
