Daniela Iride Murgia is an Italian author and illustrator renowned for her poetic and visually captivating storytelling. Born in Sardinia, she graduated in Oriental Art from Venice and obtained a master’s degree from the University of Padua. She divides her time between Venice and Denmark. Her artistic creations are characterised by a diverse range of techniques, including collage, watercolour, embroidery, paper cutting, hand printing, and ink. She often crafts three-dimensional dioramas, transforming paper into various forms to create unique art pieces that blend design, fine art, and craftsmanship.
Throughout her career, Daniela has collaborated with numerous international magazines and publishing houses. Her work has garnered multiple accolades, including the prestigious “A la Orilla del Viento” award from FCE Mexico in 2012, the Rodari Prize in Italy in 2017, and the Andersen Prize as Best Illustrator of the Year in 2021.
In 2022, she was honoured with the title of MAM, Master of Arts and Crafts.
Daniela is also the co-founder of M+B Studio, which designs and curates exhibitions in collaboration with internationally renowned artists and architects at the Venice Biennale and other contemporary art venues. She has taught illustration at the International School of Comics in Padua, sharing her expertise and passion with aspiring artists.
