Silvia Vecchini was born in Perugia, Italy, and graduated in Modern Literature. She is one of the most beloved and award-winning authors of children’s books and poetry and YA novels in Italy. She has been creating literature for children and young adults since 2000. Her diverse body of work includes picture books, poetry collections, early readers, novels, and graphic novels, many of which have been translated into other languages. In addition to her writing, she conducts poetry workshops for children and young adults and leads writing groups for adults.
Her awards and recognitions include: Italian Andersen Prize as best writer in 2026, Premio Micheluzzi for Best Screenplay (2022), Premio Liber (2022), Premio Laura Orvieto (2021), Premio Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi shortlist (2021), UNICEF Prize for Children’s Literature (2021), Sélection des Prix Scolaire, Angoulême (2017), Premio Gianni Rodari (2017), and many more.
