A witty, science-rich journey where facts and personality mix, and where the narrator is quite literally the substance of life.

“Hello, I am Water. And I have a lot to say”.

Water introduces itself as an ancient, globe-trotting protagonist who has seen everything: the birth of life in primordial oceans, the age of dinosaurs, the rise of civilizations, and humanity trying to understand what water actually is (spoiler: it took a while). Along the way, it explains — with disarming simplicity — molecules, states of matter, ocean currents, and the water cycle, turning big scientific ideas into a flowing narrative.

But Water is not just here to entertain. It also gets a little grumpy. Because humans waste it, pollute it, and heat up the planet enough to melt its icy “relatives.” Glaciers shrink, deserts expand, and suddenly everyone is shouting “Water! Water!” when it becomes scarce. Still, Water remains a loyal friend. It talks about solutions, clean energy, desalination, and smarter use.

The message is clear but never preachy: if Earth is the Blue Planet, it’s largely thanks to Water — and its future depends on how we treat it.

Hi, I Am Water is part of the ten-book series Little Geniuses, published by Valentina Edizioni. The other books are: I Am Gea, I Am Zero, I Am Future, I Am Air, I Am Sun, I Am Moon, I Am Robot (Gianni Rodari Special Prize, City of Omegna 2017), I Am Micro (Gianni Rodari Special Prize, City of Omegna 2017), I Am Time
