A tender and reassuring early readers story about loneliness, friendship, and the joy of being found.

Once, Mr Kite flew happily in the sky, playing with children who held him safely by a string. But one day, the string snaps, and he is carried far away by the wind — higher and higher, until he finds himself alone on a cloud. At first, everything feels strange. The world below looks tiny, and although the cloud is comfortable and filled with little everyday pleasures, Mr Kite soon begins to feel the weight of solitude. Days pass quietly, meals are eaten alone, and even dreams are filled with the wish for a friend. One morning, a lively family of birds lands on his cloud, bringing noise, joy, and company. Mr Kite welcomes them with excitement, but their visit is only temporary — and soon, they fly away again, leaving him alone once more.
Until, from the pages of a book, a tiny bird appears. Small, shy, and perhaps a little lazy, it decides to stay. And at last, Mr Kite is no longer alone.
