A witty and philosophical picture book about identity, storytelling, and the magic that begins when someone decides to read.
Edoardo, the supposed protagonist of this book, feels crushed by the responsibility of being the main character — so he steps out of the story and leaves. Desperate, the book sets off through the Land of Fairy Tales in search of a replacement, meeting famous characters who all refuse the role. As it grows smaller and more fragile, it finally lands in a library, where a child opens it and starts to read.
And that is when the truth becomes clear: a book does not need a single hero. Its protagonist is every reader who enters the story.
