Alessio Alcini, Lisa Loffredo, Mariana Ruiz Johnson, and Joaquin Camp are the four outstanding illustrators from the Just Right list who have been selected by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) to participate in the Illustrators Exhibition 2025. This prestigious recognition is a milestone in the careers of artists, offering them an international platform to showcase their talent.

Chosen by the Jury for the illustrations of his latest picture book Micro Space Rabbits (Camelozampa, 2024), Alessio Alcini is an Italian illustrator celebrated for his imaginative work in children’s literature. He blends vibrant colors with muted tones, creating dreamlike worlds filled with whimsical details.

Also coming from Italy, and currently based in Amsterdam, Lisa Loffredo is the illustrator of the stunning picture book The Midnight Elephant, written by Lorenzo Coltellacci, which is set to be released next year. Known for her playful, colorful style, Lisa enjoys using a rich palette and quirky designs. Her illustrations are brimming with life and energy, capturing the essence of fun in every detail. 

Mariana Ruiz Johnson is the illustrator of Sssh: (almost) a silent book, which was published in Italy by Camelozampa in 2019 and written by Fred Paronuzzi. This book was included in the Ibby Italia Honour List in 2021. 

The Jump and The Seesaw are illustrated by Joaquin Camp, both included in the Just Right catalog. The Argentinian illustrator has published works in numerous countries and has received multiple accolades and honorable mentions for his art. His works have been showcased previously at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrators Exhibitions in 2019 and 2020, and he was shortlisted in 2021.

A total of 4,374 illustrators applied for the 59th edition of the Illustrators Exhibition, submitting 21,870 illustrations from 89 countries and regions worldwide. This marks a new record for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, which has beenshowcasing remarkable illustrations since its founding in 1967. 

Following the BCBF, which will be held from March 31 to April 3, the Illustrators Exhibition 2025, will embark on a two-year international tour, featuring artwork in museums, galleries, and libraries across Japan, China, and other locations. Additionally, one artist from the Exhibition will be chosen to create the visual identity for BCBF 2026, with guidance from the Chialab design studio.
